TwInbox

Let’s say you’re an Outlook user who frequently uses the email service and you’re also a Twitter fan and you would like to stay on top of your tweets. How do you bring the two together? How do you get to enjoy Twitter from within Outlook? The answer is simple: by getting the TwInbox add-in. With TwInbox you will be able to view, archive, manage, and search your tweets without having to leave Outlook.

To get started with TwInbox you need to have a Windows-powered machine, anything from Windows XP to Windows 8. Of course, you need to have Outlook installed on your Windows-powered machine, anything from Outlook 2003 to Outlook 2013 (please note that TwInbox does not work with Outlook Express). And last but not least, you need to have Internet Explorer 8 or newer on your PC. The browser does not have to be set as default; you just need to have it on your PC, says TwInbox’s developer.

You’ll find TwInbox at the top of Outlook’s interface. There will be a special TwInbox toolbar if you’re using Outlook 2003 and there will be a special TwInbox section if you use Outlook 2010 with its ribbon UI. Don’t worry, once the TwInbox installation process completes, your default browser will launch and you will be taken to a Getting Started page that shows you how to use TwInbox.

Speaking about using TwInbox, here’s what you can expect to get, from a functionality point of view: post a new tweet, view tweets from the people you follow, send direct messages, send replies, retweet posts, shorten URLs, archive tweets like you would email messages, manage multiple Twitter accounts, search and track keywords, see usage statistics graphs, and more.
